For the inaugural show of We Love This Life we are listening to an excerpt from the recording of this year’s sonic event for which this monthly radio show takes its name. WLTL is an event in which we we gather during the hours of sunrise each January 1st in sites of water infrastructure due to their resonant properties in the mountainous regions surrounding Los Angeles and play/listen to music as the first sunrise rises. Hot Green tea is alway provided to thaw the soul in the cold mountain morning. This year we gathered--rain, generator, speakers, Moog grandmother and all—-nestled overlooking Angeles National forest. This year's site of infrastructure was culvert constructed after the 2009 station fire by Cal Trans to mitigate landslides on the freshly fire scarred hillside---an aftermath of the colonial landscape we live within. Sonically and communally activating these sites of post-disaster artifact may be the best way to move forward with the conditions passed down to us.
